The Board of Skill New Zealand - Pukenga Aotearoa, pursuant to section 8 of the Industry Training Act 1992 and having consulted with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, afforded provisional recognition to the Local Government Industry Training Organisation for a period
of 12 months effective from 30 November 2002, to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the local government and civil defence industry.
