Alexander Turnbull Library Endowment Trust

Application for Approval of a Scheme of Variation
Take notice that the Alexander Turnbull Library Endowment Trust Board will make application to the High Court in Wellington on the 17th day of November 2003 at 10.00 a.m., for approval of a scheme under Part 3 of the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 to vary the trust deed and in particular:
1. to vary the objects of the trust so as to include
research-related activities associated with the Alexander Turnbull Library;
2. to modernise a number of references in the trust deed;
3. to amend provisions as to board membership and quorum, and as to auditing requirements; and
4. to insert new provisions permitting payout through intermediaries, regulating the taking of investment advice, resolving disputes by obtaining counsel's opinion, allowing the trustees by special majority to vary the trust deed (including, subject to Attorney-General approval, the objects of the trust) and limiting the liability of the trustees.
Any person desiring to oppose the application is required to give written notice of his/her intention to do so to the Registrar of the High Court, to the Attorney-General and to the trustees not less than seven clear days before the 17th day of November 2003.
This notice is advertised in accordance with section 36 of the Charitable Trusts Act 1957.
