Pursuant to Regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and under delegated authority, I approve for the purposes of Regulation 67 (8) of these Regulations the fitting and use
of one or more lights of a specified type on certain motor vehicles, as specified in the Schedule and subject to the conditions in the Schedule.
Schedule
Scene lights in the form of spotlamps/floodlamps mounted on vehicles owned and operated by New Zealand Police.
Conditions
(i) The lights to be controlled by a switch interlocked with the vehicle's braking system which only allows the lights to operate when the parking brake is fully applied.
(ii) The setting and operation of the lights must not dazzle road users.
(iii) When such motor vehicles are operated on the road, the lights and their fittings must comply with Land Transport Rule: External Projections 2001.
