Pursuant to section 161 (3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is hereby given of the making of
Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Exhaust Emissions 2003 (Rule 33001).
This rule will come into force on 1 January 2004 and will have effect from:
? 1 January 2004, for light vehicles (gross vehicle mass of 3500kg or less) that are new-model or used or low volume vehicles and that operate on petrol or diesel;
? 1 January 2006, for heavy vehicles (gross vehicle mass exceeding 3500kg) that are existing-model vehicles and that operate on diesel; and
? 1 January 2005, for all other light and heavy motor vehicles that operate on petrol or diesel.
This Ordinary Rule is available for inspection free of charge at the Head Office of the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand, 7-27 Waterloo Quay, Wellington, and
for purchase from October 2003 at bookshops that sell legislation or direct from Wickliffe Limited, P.O. Box 932, Dunedin.
