Pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, Peter Graeme Croft, Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Queenstown Lakes District) Notice, 2003.
2. The roads specified in the First Schedule are declared to be closely populated localities at all times for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.
3. The roads specified in the Second Schedule are declared to be 70 kilometres an hour speed limit areas pursuant to Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
4. All of the Traffic (Queenstown Lakes District) Notice No. 1, 1994, dated the 19th day of April 1994, is revoked.*
5. All of the Traffic (Queenstown Lakes District) Notice No. 2, 1999, dated the 7th day of September 1999, is revoked.**
First Schedule
Situated within the Queenstown Lakes District at Arrowtown:
All roads within the area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the eastern side of Centennial Avenue
20 metres measured southerly, generally, along Centennial Avenue from Jopp Street; thence across Centennial Avenue at right angles from its eastern side to its western side; thence westerly, generally,
by a right line to a point on the north-eastern side
of McDonnell Road 1000 metres measured south-easterly, generally, along McDonnell Road from Lake Hayes-Arrowtown Road; thence across McDonnell Road at right angles from its north-eastern side to its south-western side; thence north-westerly, generally, by a right line to a point on the eastern
side of Lake Hayes-Arrowtown Road 50 metres measured southerly, generally, along that roadside from Malaghans Road; thence across Lake Hayes-Arrowtown Road at right angles from its eastern side to its western side; thence north-westerly, generally, by a right line to a point on the southern side of Malaghans Road 50 metres measured westerly, generally, along that roadside from Lake Hayes-Arrowtown Road; thence across Malaghans Road at right angles from its southern side to its northern side; thence westerly, generally, by a right line to a point on the south-eastern side of Manse Road 40 metres north-easterly, generally, along that roadside from Malaghans Road; thence across Manse Road at right angles from its south-eastern side to its north-western side; thence due west for 500 metres; thence due north to the southern bank of Bush Creek; thence easterly and southerly, generally, along that bank and the true right bank at the Arrow River to a point due east at the commencing point; thence due west to the commencing point.
Situated within the Queenstown Lakes District at Wanaka:
All roads within the area bounded by a line
commencing at a point on the northern side of the Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road 100 metres measured westerly, generally, along the said road from Bills Way; thence easterly, generally, along the Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road to a point 50 metres measured westerly, generally, along the said road from Studholme Road, thence across Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road at right angles from its northern side to its southern side; thence southerly, generally, along the western side of Studholme Road to a point
470 metres measured southerly, generally, along Studholme Road from Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road; thence across Studholme Road at right angles from its western side to its eastern side; thence easterly, generally, by a right line to the intersection of the western side of Stone Street with the southern side of Stone Street; thence easterly, generally, along the southern side of Stone Street to the western side of Cardrona Valley Road; thence northerly, generally, along that roadside, across Stone Street to a point
20 metres measured southerly, generally, along the Cardrona Valley Road from Golf Course Road; thence across Cardrona Valley Road at right angles from its western side to its eastern side; thence northerly, generally, along that roadside to the northern side of Golf Course Road; thence along that side of Golf Course Road to the south-western side of Ballantyne Road; thence south-easterly, generally, along that roadside, across Golf Course Road to a point 20 metres measured south-easterly, generally, along Ballantyne Road from Golf Course Road; thence across Ballantyne Road at right angles from its south-western side to its north-eastern side; thence northerly, generally, by a right line to a point on
the southern side of State Highway No. 84 (Mount Iron-Wanaka) 50 metres measured easterly, generally, along that roadside from Anderson Road; thence across the said State highway at right angles from its southern side to its northern side; thence easterly, generally, along that side of the said State highway to a point 650 metres measured easterly, generally, along the said State highway from Anderson Road; thence due north to the southern side of Anderson Road; thence westerly and southerly, generally, along that roadside to a point 860 metres measured northerly, generally, along Anderson Road from State Highway No. 84 (Mount Iron-Wanaka); thence across Anderson Road at right angles from its eastern side to its western side; thence northerly, generally, along that roadside to the southern side of Aubrey Road; thence westerly, generally, along that roadside to a point 200 metres measured easterly, generally, along Aubrey Road from Rata Street; thence across Aubrey Road at right angles from its southern side to its northern side; thence easterly, generally, along that roadside to a point 200 metres measured easterly, generally, along Aubrey Road from Kirimoko Crescent; thence due north to the true right bank of the Clutha River; thence westerly, southerly, westerly and northerly, generally, along that bank and the shore of Lake Wanaka to a point due north of the commencing point; thence due south to the commencing point.
Second Schedule
Situated within the Queenstown Lakes District at Wanaka:
Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Road: From a point 100 metres measured westerly, generally, along the said road from Bills Way to a point 50 metres measured westerly, generally, along the said road from Studholme Road.
Aubrey Road: From a point 200 metres measured easterly, generally, along the said road from Rata Street to its intersection with Andersons Road.
Anderson Road: From a point 860 metres measured northerly, generally, along the said road from State Highway No. 84 (Mount Iron-Wanaka) to a point 1050 metres measured easterly, generally, along the said road from Aubrey Road.
Golf Course Road.
Cardrona Valley Road: From a point 120 metres measured southerly, generally, along the said road from Stone Street to a point 20 metres measured southerly, generally, along the said road from Golf Course Road.
Ballantyne Road: From a point 20 metres measured southerly, generally, along the said road from Golf Course Road to a point 260 metres measured southerly, generally, along the said road from Gordon Road.
Gordon Road.
