Notice of Proposed Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods

In accordance with section 161 (2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of his intention to make a rule concerning the transport of dangerous goods, and advises that draft Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods (Rule 45001/1) is now available for public comment.
This proposed legislation updates, and would replace,
Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods 1999 (Rule 45001).
The main purpose of this proposed revised rule is to bring New Zealand requirements into line with technical changes to the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport
of Dangerous Goods - Model Regulations, and to align transport controls more closely with Regulations made under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996.

The draft rule is also available for viewing at the LTSA's seven regional offices.
A copy of the draft rule has been made available to groups and individuals who have expressed an interest in the rule.
