Pursuant to Regulations 67 (8) and 88 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976 and pursuant to the powers delegated
to me by the Director, I, Laszlo Andras Hidvegi, Senior Engineer Safer Vehicles Policy, approve the fitting of the lamps specified in Schedule 1 of this notice to vehicles in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions in Schedule 3, until the time specified in Schedule 4.
Schedule 1
A vehicle in Schedule 2 may be permanently fitted with the following lamps:
1. One or more flashing or revolving yellow or amber lamps.
2. One or more scene lamps or working lamps, in addition to the auxiliary lamps allowed in Regulation 65 of
the Traffic Regulations 1976, emitting white light to illuminate the immediate working area where the vehicle is operated.
Schedule 2
All forklifts.
Schedule 3
1. The lamps permitted in point 1 of Schedule 1 may only be used while the vehicle is being operated on the road when the usage of such lights are required in the transport law, for example according to the requirements in Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2002 (Rule 41001).
2. The lamps permitted in point 2 of Schedule 1 must not be used while the vehicle is operated on the road, except when operated on the road for the specific purpose the vehicle is designed for, such as lifting and shifting loads.
Schedule 4
This approval will lapse on the day when Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting (Rule 32005) comes into force.
