Pursuant to Regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976 (hereinafter "TR1976"), and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety,
I, Laszlo Andras Hidvegi, Senior Engineer Safer Vehicles Policy, hereby exempt the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements in Schedule 2, until the time in Schedule 3.
Schedule 1
All forklifts.
Schedule 2
1. Regulation 59 of the TR1976, requiring two forward facing side lamps to be fitted if the width of the vehicle exceeds 1.5m.
2. Regulation 60 (2) (a) of the TR1976, requiring rearward facing side lamps to be not more than 1.5m above the ground.
3. Regulation 61 (2) (a) of the TR1976, requiring stop lamps to be not more than 1.5m above the ground.
4. Regulation 62 (2) of the TR1976, requiring rear reflectors to be not more than 1.5m above the ground.
5. The requirement in Regulation 63 (2) (a) of the TR1976, according to which the direction indicator lamps must be not more than 1.5m above the ground.
Schedule 3
This exemption will lapse on the day when Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting (Rule 32005) comes into force.
