Designating Land Transfer Offices and Declaration of Land as Electronic Transactions Land

Designated Land Transfer Offices
Section 47 (1) (b) of the Land Transfer Act 1952
Pursuant to section 47 of the Land Transfer Act 1952, the Registrar-General of Land may designate land transfer offices for the purposes of presentation of instruments.
The Registrar-General of Land designates the following offices of Land Information New Zealand as offices for the purposes of section 47 (1) (b) with effect from the 14th day of October 2002:
North Auckland Land Registration District: Oracle Tower, 56 Wakefield Street, Auckland 1.
South Auckland and Taranaki Land Registration Districts: Corner of Victoria and Rostrevor Streets, Hamilton.
Wellington, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay Land Registration Districts: Mayfair House, 44-52 The Terrace, Wellington.
Nelson, Marlborough, Westland and Canterbury Land Registration Districts: Torrens House, 195 Hereford Street, Christchurch.
Otago and Southland Land Registration Districts: John Wickliffe House, Princes Street, Dunedin.
Declaration of Land as Electronic Transactions Land
Section 25 of the Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002
Section 25 of the Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002 allows the
Registrar-General of Land to declare land to be electronic transactions land for the purposes of the Land Transfer Act 1952 and the Amendment Act.
The Registrar-General of Land hereby declares that with effect from the 14th day of October 2002, all land in New Zealand that is in, or after the 14th day of October 2002 becomes comprised in, a computer register under the provisions detailed below is electronic transactions land.

Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002 9 (1) (a) Computer interest register for any lease registered under the Land Transfer Act 1952.
Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002 9 (1) (c) Computer interest register for any matter or interest embodied as a folium of the provisional register.
Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002 11 Computer unit title register for a stratum estate in freehold or a stratum estate in leasehold, within the meaning of the Unit Titles Act 1972.
Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002 13 Composite computer register comprising all or any of a computer freehold register, computer interest register, and computer unit title register.
Land Transfer (Computer Registers and Electronic Lodgement) Amendment Act 2002 9 (1) (b) Computer interest register created for interests
registered under one of the following provisions
only:
Purchaser's interest under agreement for sale or licence pursuant to section 18 of the Housing Act 1955.
Purchaser's interest under agreement for sale pursuant to section 348 of the Municipal Corporations Act.
Purchaser's interest under agreement for sale pursuant to section 575 of the Local Government Act 1974.
Grant of Forestry Right over land for which there is no certificate of title pursuant to section 5A of the Forestry Rights Registration Act 1983.
Licence under section 82 of the Land Act 1948.
Reserves made by the Governor-General under the West Coast Settlement (North Island) Act 1880.
Licence under the Land Act 1908.
Licence to occupy under the Housing Act 1919.
This declaration has the effect of allowing electronic transactions to occur in relation to the land now declared electronic transactions land and also of cancelling duplicate certificates of title for the affected land where a duplicate or duplicates exist.
