Publication of Commerce Commission Study on Airfield Activities

In accordance with sections 54 (4) and 56 (5) of the Commerce Act 1986, the Minister of Commerce ("the Minister") has published the final report ("the report") of the Commerce Commission ("the Commission") on the study of airfield activities at Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch international airports.
The report is in response to a request from the Minister for a Commission study on whether airfield activities (as defined in the Airport Authorities Amendment Act 1997) provided by the three major international airport companies should be controlled under Part 4 of the Commerce Act.
Copies of the report can be downloaded from the Minister's web site (http://www.executive.govt.nz/minister/swain/index.html) and the Ministry of Economic Development web site (http://www.med.govt.nz/buslt/bus_pol/airports/index.html).
An executive summary of the report is also available.

The Minister invites interested people to provide comments in writing on any new matters raised in the report that were not the subject of submissions to the Commission and any other relevant matters that are not reflected in the Commission's report.
Comments must be received no later than Friday, 6 September 2002.
