Burial and Cremation Act (Operational Service) Notice 2002

Pursuant to section 15 (2) of the Burial and Cremation Act 1964, the Minister of Internal Affairs gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title and commencement-(1) This notice is to be cited as the Burial and Cremation Act (Operational Service) Notice 2002.
(2) This notice comes into force on the 28th day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
2. Operational service-The following service by members of Her Majesty's Forces is hereby declared to be "operational service" for the purposes of section 15 of the Burial and Cremation Act 1964:
United Nations Military Observer Group in India
and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and United Nations
India-Pakistan Observer Mission (UNIPOM)
Members of the New Zealand Armed Forces who served with the United Nations Military Observer Group in
India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and United Nations India-Pakistan Observer Mission (UNIPOM) between January 1952 and 31 March 1974.
United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), the United Nations Yemen Observer
Mission (UNYOM), the United Nations Observation Group in Lebanon (UNOGIL) and the United Nations Operation in the Congo (ONUC)
Members of the New Zealand Armed Forces who
served with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), or its detachments, being the United Nations Yemen Observer Mission (UNYOM),
the United Nations Observation Group in Lebanon (UNOGIL) and the United Nations Operation in the
Congo (ONUC) between July 1954 and 31 March 1974.
Nuclear Tests on Mururoa Atoll
Members of the New Zealand Armed Forces who served on board Her Majesty's New Zealand Ships Otago and Canterbury while observing French nuclear tests at Mururoa Atoll on 22 and 28 July 1973.
