Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation

Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of a summary of exemptions, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.

1/EXE/56-General Exemption
On: 28 November 2001.
To: Each pilot of an aeroplane operating on or in the vicinity of Franz Josef Aerodrome.
From the Requirements in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.233 (a) (3) to perform a left hand aerodrome traffic circuit when approaching for a landing and after
take-off.
Only With Respect to: Runway 28 Franz Josef Aerodrome.

On: 8 November 2001.
To: Eagle Airways Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 125.375 that each of its turbine-powered aeroplanes operating under IFR is equipped with a GPWS no later than 30 June 2000 if that aeroplane has a MCTOW in excess of
5700kg.
Only With Respect to: Named Metroliner SA227AC aircraft for periods as specified.

2/EXE/5-General Exemption
On: 6 December 2001.
To: Each operator of a New Zealand registered helicopter performing a helicopter external load operation under Part 133.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 133.255 (1) that each operator performing a helicopter external load operation shall ensure that the helicopter is equipped with a cargo hook, or similar device, approved by the helicopter manufacturer for use on the helicopter.

To: Origin Pacific Airways Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 125.375 that each of its turbine-powered aeroplanes operating under IFR is equipped with a GPWS no later than 30 June 2000 if that aeroplane has a MCTOW in excess of 5700kg.
Only With Respect to: Jetstream J31 aircraft, registrations ZK-JSA, ZK-JSH and ZK-JSI.
This exemption shall remain in effect from 1 January 2002 until 30 June 2002 unless withdrawn earlier in writing by the Director.
2/EXE/16-General Exemption
On: 8 November 2001.
To: Each aircraft operated by the holder of a Foreign Air Operators Certificate issued under Part 129.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.529 (a) that each aircraft shall have an automatic ELT installed.
Only With Respect to: Turbo-jet powered aeroplanes that have more than 30 seats excluding any crew-member seat, or a payload of more than 3410kg, used for foreign air transport operations to, from or within New Zealand.

To: Air New Zealand Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.529 (a) that each aircraft shall have an automatic ELT installed.
Only With Respect to: B767 aircraft, registration ZK-NBA.
2/EXE/21-General Exemption.
On: 30 November 2001.
To: Each person operating an aircraft that has a passenger seating configuration, excluding any flight crew seat, of not more than 19 seats.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.115 (a) (1) that no person shall operate an aircraft carrying more than 19 but less than 51 passengers unless at least one flight attendant is carried.

On: 6 December 2001.
To: Pionair Adventures Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 125.367 that each holder of an air operator certificate shall ensure each of its aeroplanes is equipped with a cockpit voice recorder.
Only With Respect to: Douglas DC-3 aircraft, registrations ZK-AMS, ZK-AWP and ZK-AMY.

On: 21 December 2001.
To: Airwork (NZ) Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 121.379 that each holder of an air operator certificate shall ensure that each of its turbine powered aeroplanes is equipped with a GPWS if those aircraft have a MCTOW in excess of
15,000kg; or a certificated seating capacity, excluding any pilot seat, of 30 seats or more; or is operating under IFR after 1 January 2000.
Only With Respect to: Named Fokker F27 aircraft for periods as specified.

On: 21 December 2001.
To: Airwork (NZ) Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 125.375 that each holder of an air operator certificate shall ensure that each of its turbine-powered aeroplanes operating under IFR is equipped with a GPWS no later than 30 June 2000 if that aeroplane has a MCTOW in excess of 5700kg.
Only With Respect to: Named Metroliner SA227-AC aircraft for periods as specified.
2/EXE/24
On: 21 December 2001.
To: Taupo Airport Authority Limited, being the applicant for the grant of an air traffic service certificate under Part 172.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 172.57 (b) (5) (xi) that an aerodrome flight information office listed in the applicant's exposition is provided with status monitors for approach and landing aids and any road or rail signalling equipment affecting the use of a runway.
Only With Respect to: Paraparaumu Aerodrome Flight Information Service.
This exemption shall remain in effect from 7 January 2002 until 13 January 2002 unless withdrawn earlier in writing by the Director.
2/EXE/25
On: 21 December 2001.
To: Taupo Airport Authority Limited, being the applicant for the grant of an air traffic service certificate under Part 172.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 172.57 (b) (5) (ix) that an aerodrome flight information office listed in the applicant's exposition is provided with a signal lamp with green, red and white functions.
Only With Respect to: Paraparaumu Aerodrome Flight Information Service.
This exemption shall remain in effect from 7 January 2002 until 13 January 2002 unless withdrawn earlier in writing by the Director.

On: 21 December 2001.
To: Air Chathams Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 125.375 that that each of its turbine-powered aeroplanes operating under IFR is equipped with a GPWS no later than
30 June 2000 if that aeroplane has a MCTOW in excess of 5700kg.
Only With Respect to: Metroliner SA227-AC aircraft, registration ZK-CIC.
This exemption shall remain in effect from 1 January 2002 until 31 December 2002 unless withdrawn earlier.
2/EXE/28
On: 21 December 2001.
To: Air New Zealand Limited.
From the Requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.529 (a) that each aircraft shall have an automatic ELT installed.
Only With Respect to: Boeing 747 type aircraft and Boeing 767 type aircraft entered in the New Zealand Register of Aircraft before 1 August 2002.
