ELIZABETH THE SECOND, by the Grace of God Queen of New Zealand and Her Other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith:
To Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Counsellor, Sir Michael Hardie Boys, Principal Knight Grand Companion of Our
New Zealand Order of Merit, Knight Grand Cross of Our Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Principal Companion of Our Service Order:
GREETING!
WHEREAS by Our Commission under Our Seal of New Zealand bearing date at Saint James's the 7th day of March 1996, We did appoint you, the said Sir Michael Hardie Boys, to be, during Our Pleasure, Our Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over New Zealand:
AND WHEREAS you, the said Sir Michael Hardie Boys, did on the 21st day of March 1996, assume the said office of
Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief by taking the prescribed Oaths before Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Counsellor Sir Thomas Eichelbaum, Chief Justice of New Zealand:
AND WHEREAS you, the said Sir Michael Hardie Boys, have given faithful and loyal service in pursuance of Our said Commission appointing you to be Our Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over New Zealand:
NOW, THEREFORE, as it is Our Will and Pleasure to appoint The Honourable Dame Silvia Cartwright, Dame Commander of Our Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, to be Our Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over New Zealand, We do by these presents revoke Our Commission under Our Seal of New Zealand, bearing date the 7th day of March 1996, appointing you, the said Sir Michael Hardie Boys, to be Our Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over
New Zealand:
AND WE direct that this Our command and the revocation effected by it shall take effect from the close of the 21st day of March 2001.
Given at Our Court at Saint James's and issued under the Seal of New Zealand this nineteenth day of March 2001, in the fiftieth year of Our Reign.
