Under section 8 (1) (a) of the Forests (West Coast Accord) Act 2000, the Minister of Finance and the Minister for
State-Owned Enterprises jointly declare that the land described in the Schedule is held under the Conservation Act 1987 for conservation purposes and as an ecological area subject to that Act to be known as the Bell Hill-Granite Hill Ecological Area, to protect a bird-rich sequence of podocarp forest on valley floors, hard beech forest on slopes and hardwood forest on ridges on Old Man Gravels.
This notice shall take effect on 1 July 2001.
