Proposal to Make Regulations for Mandatory Energy Performance Standards and Labelling

The Minister of Energy proposes to make regulations introducing mandatory energy performance standards and energy labelling for a range of energy-using products.
The Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations 2001 will be made under the section 36 of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000.
The regulations are being introduced to promote energy efficiency in New Zealand.
A discussion document was released in April 2001 and submissions have been considered when preparing the proposed regulations.
Submissions are now invited on the legal draft of the proposed regulations.
