Pursuant to section 20 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries, after having regard to the matters specified in section 21 of that Act, gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title and Commencement-(1) This notice is the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice (No. 2) 2001.
(2) This notice comes into force on 1 October 2001.
(3) For freshwater eels, there shall be a total allowable commercial catch for a transitional period between 1 October 2001 and 31 January 2002, and a total allowable commercial catch for the period commencing 1 February 2002.
2. Interpretation-In this notice, "principal notice" means the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986 (S.R. 1986/267).
3. Total allowable commercial catch for alfonsino-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item A of the item relating to alfonsino and inserting the following item:
A Auckland (East) and Auckland (West) combined 1 & 9 300
4. Total allowable commercial catch for bluenose-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item E of the item relating to bluenose and inserting the following item:
E South-East (Coast), South East (Chatham Rise), Southland, and Sub-Antarctic combined 3, 4, 5 & 6 925
5. Total allowable commercial catch for elephant fish-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item E of the item relating to elephant fish and inserting the following item:
E Southland and Sub-Antarctic combined 5 & 6 100
6. Total allowable commercial catch for gemfish-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item A of the item relating to gemfish and inserting the following item:
A Auckland (East) and Auckland (West) combined 1 & 9 210
B Central (East) 2 240
7. Total allowable commercial catch for hoki-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item A of the item relating to hoki and inserting the following item:

8. Total allowable commercial catch for orange roughy-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the items A and E of the item relating to orange roughy and inserting the following items:

E Challenger (South) 7B 110
9. Total allowable commercial catch for oreo dories-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the items B and C of the item relating to oreo dories and inserting the following items:
B Central, Challenger, South-East (Cook Strait/Kaikoura) and South-East (Strathallen) combined 3A & 3B 3,900
C South-East (Chatham Rise) 4 5,200
10. Total allowable commercial catch for paua-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item G of the item relating to paua and inserting the following item:

11. Total allowable commercial catch for sea perch-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item C of the item relating to sea perch and inserting the following item:

12. Total allowable commercial catch for freshwater eel-The first Schedule to the principal notice is amended by omitting the item Lake Ellesmere relating to freshwater eel and inserting the following items:
Freshwater eel Lake Ellesmere ANG 13 78 (applies for period 1 October 2001 to 31 January 2002)
Freshwater eel Lake Ellesmere ANG 13 121.93 (applies for period commencing on 1 February 2002)

This notice, which comes into force on 1 October 2001, sets total allowable commercial catches (TACCs) for certain fishstocks as follows:
? The TACC for alfonsino in area 1 is increased from 31 tonnes to 300 tonnes.
? The TACC for bluenose in area 3 is increased from 357 tonnes to 925 tonnes
? The TACC for elephant fish in area 5 is increased from 71 tonnes to 100 tonnes
? The TACC for gemfish in area 1 is reduced from 460 tonnes to 210 tonnes
? The TACC for gemfish in area 2 is reduced from 520 tonnes to 240 tonnes
? The TACC for hoki in area 1 is reduced from 250 000 tonnes to 200 000 tonnes
? The TACC for orange roughy in area 1 is increased from 800 tonnes to 1 400 tonnes
? The TACC for orange roughy in area 7B is reduced from 430 tonnes to 110 tonnes
? The TACC for oreo in area 3A is reduced from 4 400 tonnes to 3900 tonnes
? The TACC for oreo in area 4 is reduced from 7000 tonnes to 5200 tonnes
? The TACC for paua in area 7 is reduced from 267.48 tonnes to 240.73 tonnes
? The TACC for sea perch in area 3 is increased from 738 tonnes to 1000 tonnes
? For the period 1 October 2001 to 31 January 2002, the TACC for freshwater eels in area ANG 13 is reduced from 121.93 tonnes to 78 tonnes;
? From 1 February 2002, the TACC for freshwater eels in area ANG 13 is increased from 78 tonnes to 121.93 tonnes.
