Direction on Advance Payment of Benefits Amendment 2001

Pursuant to section 5 of the Social Security Act 1964, the Minister of Social Services and Employment makes the following Amendment to the Direction on Advance Payment of Benefits given on 25 May 1999.

A m e n d m e n t
1. Title-(1) This is the Direction on Advance Payment of Benefits Amendment 2001.
(2) In this Amendment, the Direction on Advance Payment of Benefits is called "the direction".
2. Commencement-This Amendment comes into effect on 1 April 2001.
3. Safety Footwear-Clause 7.2.1 of the direction is amended by revoking paragraph (a), and substituting the following paragraph:
"(a) is, under section 111 of the Act,-
"(i) directed to participate in any Organised Activity that involves undertaking work; or
"(ii) requested to participate in any activity in the community (within the meaning of section 110 (3) (ha) (i) of the Act) that involves undertaking work and has agreed to do so; and"
Explanatory Note:
This note is not part of the Amendment, but is intended to explain its general effect.
This Amendment to the Ministerial direction on advance payment of benefits, is consequential on the Social Security Amendment Act 2001.
Part 1 of that Act, which comes into force on 1 April 2001, replaces the organised activity "community work" with "activity in the community", in which participation may be requested rather than directed.
The provisions of the direction relating to safety footwear are amended with effect 1 April 2001 consequentially on those changes.
