In accordance with section 14 (7) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988 ("the Act"), I hereby terminate, with effect from 22 June 1999, the imposition of anti-dumping duty imposed on lead acid batteries from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan by reason that a review under section 14 (8) of the Act has found that the expiry of the current anti-dumping duty would be unlikely to lead to the recurrence of dumping or injury.
The notice given by the Minister of Commerce entitled "Final Determination and Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty: Lead Acid Batteries from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan" dated 9 December 1991 and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 12 December 1991 (as amended by the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of 20 February 1992, entitled "Final Determination and Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty: Lead Acid Batteries from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan: Amendment No. 1" and the notice dated 23 July 1992 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 30 July 1992, entitled "Final Determination and Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty: Lead Acid Batteries from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan: Amendment No. 2" and reassessed in notices dated 21 June 1994 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 23 June 1994, 12 February 1998 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 19 February 1998 and 2 July 1998 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 16 July 1998, entitled "Notice of Reassessment of Anti-Dumping Duty on Lead Acid Batteries from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan", and reviewed in a notice dated 21 June 1994 and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 23 June 1994) is hereby revoked.
