The Board of the Education and Training Support Agency, pursuant to Section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, hereby gives notice that on Monday, 20 September 1999, The Gas and Petrochemical Industry Training Organisation Incorporated was granted full recognition as an Industry Training Organisation for the gas distribution, reticulation, sales, repair and maintenance and petrochemical industries.
It will set standards on the National Qualifications Framework in the following areas:
Gas engineering, pipeline mechanical inspection, gas metering, governor fitting, gas measuring, appliance servicing, mains and service laying, leakage surveying, specialist meter reading, plant/process operations in the exploration/production, hydrocarbon refining and petrochemical processing sectors of the petrochemical industry and petrochemical industry specific skills: geoscientists, engineers (chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical and process), mechanical instrumentation and electrical trades persons, metering and telemetry technicians and cathodic technicians at Levels 1-8, with effect from the 20th day of September 1999.
The ITO shall be required to consult with other interested organisations over the setting of skill standards.
