I, Annette King, Minister of Health, make the following directions under the Burial and Cremation Act 164
("the Act"):
1. Under section 41 (1) of the Act, the denominational burial ground known as the Baptist Cemetery, Rangiora, being the land described in the Schedule to this notice ("the ground"), shall be closed subject to the conditions set out in paragraph 2 below, and burials there shall be discontinued from and including 14 December 2000:
2. This closing order shall be subject to the following exception and qualification:
Under the proviso to section 44 (4) of the Act, section 44 (4) shall not apply to that part of the ground which has never been used for burials measuring 1367 square metres, more or less, and which is marked "A" on the plan and indicated by diagonal lines, and that land may be diverted for the purpose of the construction of a church, car park and other associated facilities.

2681 square metres, or thereabouts, being part of Rural Section 511 (limited as to parcels) and being all that land contained in certificate of title 471/148 (Canterbury Land Registry), a plan of which is reproduced below:
