Pursuant to Section 30, Takeovers Act 1993
To: The Takeovers Panel.
Take notice that I have decided, in terms of section 28 (2) (b) Takeovers Act 1993, not to advise the Governor-General to approve the proposed takeovers code recommended by the Takeovers Panel on 8 June 1995.
And take notice that, in terms of section 30 (1) Takeovers Act 1993, I hereby request the Takeovers Panel to formulate and recommend a further takeovers code to replace the proposed takeovers code that was recommended on
8 June 1995.
My reasons for giving this notice are that it is desirable to:
? amend the proposed code that was recommended on
8 June 1995 to reflect changes in market practice and international developments in takeovers regulation since 1995; and
? consult with market participants on the technical changes required to the proposed code that was recommended on 8 June 1995.
