Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of a summary of exemptions, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.

To: Mount Cook Airline Limited.
On: 10 October 2000
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 121.367 (2) (i) that each holder of an air operator certificate ensures that each of its aeroplanes is equipped with protective breathing equipment (PBE) that is installed in each Class A, B, and E cargo compartment, only with respect to ATR 72-212A series aircraft operated by Mount Cook Airlines Limited, provided that each aeroplane is equipped with protective breathing equipment.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.

To: Nelson Helicopters Limited and any person operating an aircraft under their air operator certificate.
On: 19 October 2000.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.111 (3) that no person shall operate an aircraft unless the technical log is carried in the aircraft.
Provided that: Nelson Helicopters Limited has procedures for the management of the aircraft technical log.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.

To: Air Chathams Limited.
On: 19 October 2000
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 135.87 (d) (1) that each person performing an air transport operation over water to a point more than gliding distance from shore shall file a flight plan with a suitable ATS unit.
Only with respect to: Air Chathams VFR air transport operations conducted between main Chatham Island and
Pitt Island.
Provided that: Air Chathams Limited ensures that prior to each air operation-
(a) The flight plan required under Civil Aviation Rule 135.57 (b) is submitted to an appropriate ATS unit; or
(b) A flight following system required by Civil Aviation Rule 119.121 is implemented in accordance with procedures in their exposition.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.

To: Tasman Pacific Airlines of New Zealand Limited.
On: 29 September 2000.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.629 that each operator of an aircraft shall provide a technical log for the aircraft that has provision for recording-
(a) The identity of the maintenance programme to which the aircraft is maintained;
(b) A statement of the maintenance status of the aircraft including the identity of the next scheduled inspection and the date due;
(c) The date or hours at which any other maintenance is due prior to the next scheduled inspection;
(d) The date at which the next annual review of airworthiness or maintenance review is due;
(e) The total time in service; and
(f) The total cycles.
Provided that: Tasman Pacific Airlines of New Zealand Limited has a maintenance planning system in place.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.
This exemption replaces 98/EXE/46 issued to Ansett
New Zealand Limited, which is hereby withdrawn.

To: Alpine Fighter Collection (AFC) being the holder of a New Zealand certificate of registration for Polikarpov I-16 aircraft, registration ZK-JIR.
On: 16 October 2000.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 47.101 (a) that the aircraft bear a registration mark in the manner, and in accordance with, the specifications prescribed in 47.109 to 47.119 inclusive, provided that the aircraft bears the specified paint scheme and markings; and operation in a foreign country is conducted with the approval of the aviation regulatory authority for that country.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.

To: Alpine Fighter Collection (AFC), being the holder of a New Zealand certificate of registration for Polikarpov I-16 aircraft, registration ZK-JIP.
On: 16 October 2000.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 47.101 (a) that the aircraft bear a registration mark in the manner, and in accordance with, the specifications prescribed in 47.109 to 47.119 inclusive, provided that the aircraft bears the specified paint scheme and markings; and operation in a foreign country is conducted with the approval of the aviation regulatory authority for that country.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.

To: Alpine Fighter Collection (AFC) being the holder of a New Zealand certificate of registration for Polikarpov I-153 aircraft, registration ZK-JKN.
On: 16 October 2000.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 47.101 (a) that the aircraft bear a registration mark in the manner, and in accordance with, the specifications prescribed in 47.109 to 47.119 inclusive, provided that the aircraft bears the specified paint scheme and markings; and operation in a foreign country is conducted with the approval of the aviation regulatory authority for that country.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.
Notice of the grant, withdrawal or denial of exemptions with full provisos is published in the Civil Aviation Rules Register Information Leaflet (CARRIL).
For the proviso, refer to issue dated 26 October 2000.
