Rule 21.13
I, Russell Paul Kilvington, Director of Maritime Safety, hereby give notice, pursuant to sections 47 (2) (a) and section 47 (2) (b) (iii) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, as follows:
The owner and the master of the M.V. Straitsman are exempt, for a period of 4 hours from 1830 hours 4 November 2000 to 2230 hours 4 November 2000, from the requirement in Rule 21.13 of Part 21 of the Maritime Rules. This exemption is issued subject to the following conditions:
1. The ship is only engaged in the demonstration of distress pyrotechnics and no other purpose.
2. The ship carries no more than 80 (eighty) persons, that a personal flotation device is supplied for each person and the ship carries lifeboat and liferaft capacity for 100% of the persons carried.
3. The ship reports to Wellington Harbourmaster the number of persons on board before departing the berth for the exercise.
4. The exemption certificate signed by myself on
17 October 2000 is displayed for the duration of the exercise.
5. The ship is confined to Wellington Enclose Water Limits for the duration of the exemption certificate referred to above.
