Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation

Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of a summary of exemptions, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.
Schedule
0/EXE/49-Airways Corporation of New Zealand Limited
On: 22 September 2000.
To: Any holder of a current Air Traffic Controller Licence, employed by Airways Corporation of New Zealand Limited and seeking an ADS rating.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 65.303 (a) (3) (ii) to complete at lease 180 hours or
3 months, whichever is the greater, providing an area control automatic dependent surveillance service under the direct supervision of an appropriately rated holder of an air traffic service instructor rating.
This exemption permits training for an ADS rating to be partially completed in a simulator.
This exemption shall remain in effect unless withdrawn in writing by the director.
1/EXE/11-Tasman Pacific Airlines of NZ Limited
CAR 91.511 (a) (1)-Night VFR
On: 4 September 2000.
To: Tasman Pacific Airlines of NZ Limited.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 91.511 (a) (1) that each powered aircraft with an airworthiness certificate operated under VFR by night shall have a means of indicating rate of turn and slip.
Only in respect to: Non-EFIS equipped BAe 146 aircraft registrations ZK-NZF, KZ-NZG, ZK-NZH, ZK-NZI and ZK-NZJ.
This exemption is issued to Tasman Pacific Airlines of NZ Limited (trading as Qantas New Zealand), formerly known as Ansett New Zealand Limited, and is identical to 99/EXE/95 issued on 8 December 1999 that has subsequently been withdrawn by the director.
1/EXE/12-Tasman Pacific Airlines of NZ Limited
CAR 121/373 (a)-Flight data recorder
On: 4 September 2000.
To: Tasman Pacific Airlines of NZ Limited.
From the requirement in: Civil Aviation Rule 121.373 (a) that each holder of an air operator certificate shall ensure each of its aeroplanes is equipped with a flight data recorder in accordance with B.6 of Appendix B of Civil Aviation Rule Part 121.
Only with respect to: Parameter item 22 requiring the recording of each thrust reverser position or equivalent for the following DHC-8-103 propeller aircraft registrations ZK-NES, ZK-NET, ZK-NEU and
ZK-NEZ.
This exemption shall apply until 1 July 2001 unless withdrawn earlier in writing by the director.
The exemption is issued to Tasman Pacific Airlines of NZ Limited (trading as Qantas New Zealand), formerly known as Ansett New Zealand Limited, and is identical to 00/EXE/78 issued on the 30th day of June 2000 that has subsequently been withdrawn by the director.
