Bylaw Regulating the Speed of Vehicles on State Highways: Transit New Zealand

Regions 3 and 4
Pursuant to Section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw:
B y l a w
1. Title and commencement-This bylaw may be cited as the Transit New Zealand (Speed of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 2000/8 and shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
2. Interpretation-In this bylaw:
"vehicle" has the same meaning as in the Transport
Act 1962.
3. Limiting speed of vehicles on State highways-No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken any vehicle:
(a) At a speed exceeding 60 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the First Schedule to this bylaw; or
(b) At a speed exceeding 80 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Second Schedule to this bylaw.
First Schedule
4. The section of State Highway No. 1 that is:
(a) At Hamilton commencing at a point (Route Position 452/5.57) 40 metres north of Rotokauri Road proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction to a point (Route Position 459/0.82) 160 metres south of Killarney Road; a distance of 3.77 kilometres.
(b) At Hamilton commencing at a point (Route Position 459/1.72) 80 metres north of the intersection of State Highway No. 1 (Greenwood Street/Kahikatea Drive) with Kahikatea Drive proceeding in a generally easterly direction to a point (Route Position 462/0.57) 40 metres north-east of the intersection of State Highway No. 1 (Lorne Street/Normandy Avenue) with State Highway No. 3 On Ramp (Normandy Avenue); a distance of 2.51 kilometres.
(c) At Hamilton commencing at a point (Route Position 463/2.43) 180 metres west of Howell Avenue proceeding in a generally easterly direction to a point (Route Position 467/0.64) 70 metres south of Riverlea Road; a distance of 1.58 kilometres.
5. The section of State Highway No. 3 that is:
(a) At Hamilton commencing at Kahikatea Drive (Route Position 0/0.0) proceeding in a generally southerly direction to Resthill Crescent (Route Position 0/2.17); a distance of 2.17 kilometres.
(b) At Hamilton (State Highway No. 3 On Ramp) commencing at the intersection of Normandy Avenue and Lorne Street (Route Position 0/0.0) proceeding in a generally southerly direction to the intersection of Normandy Avenue and Ohaupo Road (Route Position 0/0.68); a distance of 680 metres.
6. The section of State Highway No. 5 that is at Rotorua commencing at Barnard Road (Route Position 47/0.00) proceeding in a generally southerly direction to Lake Road (Route Position 47/1.85); a distance of 1.85 kilometres.
7. The section of State Highway No. 26 that is at Hamilton commencing at Cambridge Road (Route Position 0/0.0) proceeding in a generally easterly direction to a point (Route Position 0/0.72) 270 metres north-east of Berkley Avenue;
a distance of 720 metres.
8. The section of State Highway No. 30 that is:
(a) At Rotorua commencing at a point (Route Position 144/0.72) 720 metres north-east of the intersection of State Highway No. 30 (Hemo Road) with State Highway No. 5 (Old Taupo Road) proceeding in a generally northerly direction to Sala Street (Route Position 144/1.13); a distance of 410 metres.
(b) At Rotorua commencing at Tarawera Road (Route Position 147/1.05) proceeding in a generally northerly direction to a point (Route Position 147/4.19) 90 metres north of Coulter Road; a distance of 3.14 kilometres.

9. The section of State Highway No. 1 that is:
(a) At Ohinewai commencing at a point (Route Position 412/7.79) 380 metres north of Tahuna Road proceeding in a generally southerly direction to a point (Route Position 412/8.91) 740 metres south of Tahuna Road; a distance of 1.12 kilometres.
(b) At Horotiu commencing at a point (Route Position 442/6.02) 80 metres north of Horotiu Road proceeding in a generally southerly direction to a point (Route Position 442/6.81) 70 metres south of Horotiu Bridge Road; a distance of 790 metres.

(g) At Cambridge commencing at a point (Route Position 478/7.03) 20 metres west of Dominion Avenue proceeding in a generally southerly direction to a point (Route Position 485/0.35) 350 metres south of Shakespeare Street; a distance of 530 metres.
(h) At Taupo commencing at a point (Route Position 606/5.94) 500 metres north of Huka Falls Loop Road at its southern junction with State Highway No. 1 proceeding in a generally southerly direction to a point (Route Position 606/7.33) 100 metres north of Norman Smith Street; a distance of 1.39 kilometres.
10. The section of State Highway No. 2 that is:
(a) At Mangatawhiri commencing at a point (Route Position 0/9.11) 150 metres west of Koheroa Road proceeding in a generally southeasterly direction to a point (Route Position 0/10.21) 150 metres east of McKenzie Road; a distance of 1.10 kilometres.
(b) At Te Puna commencing at a point (Route Position 130/13.34) 180 metres west of Loop Road proceeding in a generally easterly direction to a point (Route Position 130/14.62) 360 metres east of Te Puna Road; a distance of 1.28 kilometres.
(c) At Bethlehem commencing at a point (Route Position 146/2.03) 320 metres east of Bethlehem Road proceeding in a generally easterly direction to a point (Route Position 146/3.21) 200 metres west of Jonathon Street; a distance of 1.18 kilometres.
(d) At Te Puke commencing at a point (Route Position 180/1.64) 280 metres north-west of No. 1 Road proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction to a point (Route Position 180/2.22) 300 metres south-east of No. 1 Road; a distance of 580 metres.
11. The section of State Highway No. 3 that is:
(a) At Rukuhia commencing at a point (Route Position 5/0.35) 360 metres north of Rukuhia Road proceeding in a generally southerly direction to a point (Route Position 5/1.39) 680 metres south of Rukuhia Road; a distance of 1.40 kilometres.
(b) At Te Awamutu commencing at a point (Route Position 16/12.56) 220 metres south of Turere Lane proceeding in a generally southerly direction to a point (Route Position 16/14.05) 210 metres north of Herbert Street, Kihikihi; a distance of 1.50 kilometres.
12. The section of State Highway No. 5 that is:
(a) At Ngongotaha commencing at a point (Route Position 29/15.93) 100 metres north-west of Ngongotaha Road proceeding in a generally southeasterly direction to a point (Route Position 29/17.97) 520 metres north of Barnard Road; a distance of 2.06 kilometres.
(b) At Rotorua commencing at the intersection of State Highway No. 5 (Old Taupo Road) with State Highway No. 30 (Hemo Road) (Route Position 54/0.00) proceeding in a generally southerly direction on the common section of State Highways No. 5 and No. 30 to a point (Route Position 54/0.28) 280 metres south of the intersection of State Highway No. 5 (Old Taupo Road) with State Highway No. 30 (Hemo Road); a distance of 280 metres.

160 metres north-east of Ruakura Station Road; a distance of 2.74 kilometres.
15. The section of State Highway No. 30 that is:
(a) At Rotorua commencing at the intersection of State Highway No. 30 (Hemo Road) with State Highway No. 5 (Old Taupo Road) (Route Position 144/0.00) proceeding in a generally north-easterly direction to a point (Route Position 144/0.72) 720 metres north-east of the intersection of State Highway No. 30 (Hemo Road) with State Highway No. 5 (Old Taupo Road);
a distance of 720 metres.
(b) At Rotorua commencing at a point (Route Position 147/5.72) 80 metres north of Alfred Road proceeding in a generally northerly direction to a point (Route Position 147/7.11) 100 metres north of Rotokawa Road; a distance of 1.39 kilometres.
16. The section of State Highway No. 35 that is near Opotiki commencing at a point (Route Position 0/6.99) 100 metres west of Tirohanga Road proceeding in a generally easterly direction to a point (Route Position 0/8.25) 1.16 kilometres east of Tirohanga Road; a distance of 1.26 kilometres.
This bylaw was made by resolution passed by the Transit New Zealand Authority at a meeting held in Wellington on the 5th day of April 2000.
