Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 Approved Code of Practice for the Design, Operation, Maintenance and Servicing of Pressure Equipment Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, R. J. M. Hill, General Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of my intention to apply to the Minister for Enterprise and Commerce for his approval of a statement of preferred work practice or arrangements for health and safety in the design, operation, maintenance and servicing of pressure equipment as an ``Approved Code of Practice'', under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. These preferred work practices or arrangements are designed to describe safety and health precautions that should be taken in the design, use and maintenance of pressure equipment. They support the Health and Safety in Employment (Pressure Equipment, Cranes and Passenger Ropeways) Regulations 1999. They are designed to provide designers, manufacturers, suppliers, controllers and inspection bodies with specifications and technical means to minimise the risks to the health and safety of employees and others working with or near pressure equipment.
