New Zealand (Emergency) Food Standard (No. 2) 1999 Section 11g of the Food Act 1981 The New Zealand (Emergency) Food Standard (No. 2) 1999 was issued by Dr Karen O. Poutasi, Director-General of Health on 19 July 1999. Copies of the New Zealand (Emergency) Food Standard (No. 2) 1999 are available at no charge from the Ministry of Health, 133 Molesworth Street (P.O. Box 5013), Wellington. Facsimile: (04) 496 2340. The New Zealand (Emergency) Food Standard (No. 2) 1999 comes into force for certain individuals when they are notified and for all others once it is notified in the Gazette. Explanatory Note: This emergency standard relates to food products containing any pork, poultry, beef or egg, suspected of being contaminated with dioxin and imported from Belgium. It replaces the New Zealand (Emergency) Food Standard 1999 issued by the Director-General of Health on 14 June 1999. While this new standard is in force, all food containing pork, poultry, beef, dairy or egg imported from Belgium will be monitored until the Ministry of Health is confident that the matter has been completely resolved. This action is being taken as a prudent public health measure. KAREN O. POUTASI (Dr), Director-General of Health.
