Bylaw Regulating the Speed of Vehicles on State Highways in Transit New Zealand Regions 13 and 14 Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw: B y l a w 1. Title and commencement This bylaw may be cited as the Transit New Zealand (Speed of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 1998/16 and shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette. 2. Interpretation In this bylaw ``Vehicle'' has the same meaning as in the Transport Act 1962. 3. Limiting speed of vehicles on State highways No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken any vehicle (a) At a speed exceeding 30 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the First Schedule to this bylaw; or (b) At a speed exceeding 60 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Second Schedule to this bylaw; or (c) At a speed exceeding 80 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Third Schedule to this bylaw. First Schedule 4. The section of State Highway No. 94 that is at Milford Sound commencing at a point (Route Position 241/16.50) 50 metres east of the airport access and extending in a generally northerly direction to the end of the State highway (Route Position 241/17.40); a distance of 900 metres. Second Schedule 5. The section of State Highway No. 6 that is at Frankton from a point (Route Position 983/11.55) 370 metres measured in an easterly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point (Route Position 996/0.15) 150 metres measured in a southerly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A); a distance of 520 metres. 6. The section of State Highway No. 6A that is at Frankton from the start of State highway (Reference Station 0) at the intersection with Kawarau Road (State Highway No. 6) to a point (Route Position 0/1.32) 150 metres measured in a westerly direction from Marina Drive; a distance of 1.32 kilometres. Third Schedule 7. The section of State Highway No. 1 that is at Woodlands in Southland, from a point (Route Position 902/3.33) measured 30 metres north-east of its junction with Grove Bush-Woodlands Road, to a point (Route Position 902/3.94) measured 30 metres south-west of its junction with Woodlands Cemetery Road; a distance of approximately 610 metres. 8. The section of State Highway No. 6 that is: (a) At Athol from a point (Route Position 1061/2.97) measured 30 metres east of the junction of State Highway No. 6 and Albion Street to a point (Route Position 1061/3.79) measured 370 metres west of the junction of State Highway No. 6 and Clyde Street; a distance of approximately 820 metres, (b) At Frankton from a point (Route Position 996/0.15) 150 metres measured in a southerly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point (Route Position 996/1.88) 280 metres measured in a south-easterly direction from Kawarau Falls Bridge; a distance of 1.73 kilometres. (c) At Invercargill, from a point (Route Position 1168/0.90) measured 580 metres north of the junction of North Road with Moore Road, to a point (Route Position 1168/2.49) measured 200 metres north of the junction of North Road with West Plains Road; a distance of approximately 1.59 kilometres. 9. The section of State Highway No. 6A that is between Frankton and Queenstown from a point (Route Position 0/1.32) measured 150 metres in a westerly direction from Marina Drive to a point ( Route Position 0/4.89) measured 660 metres in a easterly direction from Suburb Street; a distance of 3.57 kilometres. 10. The section of State Highway No. 8 that is at Tarras from a point (Route Position 247/17.36) 140 metres measured north-east of its junction with Munroes Lane to a point (Route Position 247/17.84) 40 metres measured south-west of its junction with Jolly Road; a distance of 480 metres. 11. The section of State Highway No. 88 that is at St Leonards from a point (Route Position 0/7.04) measured 170 metres south of Moa Street to a point (Route Position 0/7.70) measured 30 metres north of St Leonards Drive (Ruru Avenue extension); a distance of 660 metres. This bylaw was made by resolution passed by the Transit New Zealand Authority at a meeting held in Wellington on the 1st day of April 1998. Dated at Wellington this 29th day of April 1998.
