Approval of Revolving Amber Lights for Maintenance Vehicles Operated by Tranz Rail Limited Pursuant to regulation 67 (8) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and by way of a subdelegation from the Director of Land Transport Safety dated 18 December 1996, I, Wayne Robert Pettersson, Senior Engineer, Safer Vehicles Roads and Rail, hereby approve the fitting of revolving amber beacons to the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 below, provided all conditions of Schedule 2 are complied with. Schedule 1 (1) Motor vehicles used for maintenance of the railway corridor and any components of the corridor. (2) Motor vehicles and equipment adapted to move on rail. (3) Forklift trucks and equipment operating on land used for railway purposes. Schedule 2 (4) The vehicle is painted a conspicuous colour and is marked as being operated by Tranz Rail Limited. (5) The vehicle may be fitted with only one revolving amber beacon. The beacon shall be placed in such a position on the vehicle so as to ensure maximum visibility to other road users. (6) Unless traffic is under the control of a police officer or traffic officer, adequate warning signs shall be erected as soon as practicable in advance of any hazard indicated by revolving amber lights.
