Notice of the Variation and Renewal of International Air Service Licences Pursuant to sections 87q and 87p, respectively, of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, and delegations from the Secretary for Transport dated 28 August 1996, I give notice that I have varied, in the manner stated below, and have renewed, with effect from 1 June 1997, the International Air Service Licences of the following airlines: Aerolineas Argentinas Air Caledonie International Air Pacific Ltd Air Vanuatu (Operations) Ltd American Airlines Inc Ansett International Ltd British Airways Plc Canadian Airlines Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd International Ltd Evergreen International EVA Airways Corporation Airlines Inc Garuda Indonesia Japan Airlines Korean Air LanChile Lufthansa German Airlines Malaysia Airline System Mandarin Airlines Berhard Polynesian Ltd Polar Air Cargo Inc Royal Tongan Airlines Ltd Qantas Airways Ltd Solomon Airlines Ltd Singapore Airlines Ltd Thai Airways International Ltd United Airlines Inc World Airways Inc The terms and conditions of the International Air Service Licence of each of the airlines listed above have been varied as follows: the licence, termed a ``Scheduled International Air Service Licence'', will remain in effect indefinitely unless it is suspended or revoked (in accordance with specific provisions of the Civil Aviation Act), except in the case of a licence where a term has been specified commensurate with the conditions imposed on New Zealand airlines by the relevant authorities in the country where the licensee is based; the separate condition relating to aircraft type has been deleted, and aircraft type is now included, where appropriate, only in a new capacity condition (which replaces frequency); cargo tariff filings are no longer required unless specifically requested; the licence includes the statutory requirement to file such statistical and financial information as the Secretary may request; other minor amendments have been made to the wording of the conditions relating to nature of service filings, insurance, tariffs, inter-governmental arrangements, and operational, safety and security standards.
