Bylaw Regulating Heavy Motor Vehicle Traffic on State Highways Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw: B y l a w 1. Title and commencement This bylaw may be cited as Transit New Zealand Bylaw (Heavy Motor Vehicle on State Highways) 1997/4 and shall come into force 28 days after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette. 2. Interpretation In this bylaw ``Heavy motor vehicle'' means a motor vehicle (other than a motorcar that is not used, kept, or available for the carriage of passengers for hire or reward) the gross laden weight of which exceeds 3 500 kilograms; but does not include a traction engine or vehicle designed solely or principally for the use of fire brigades in attendance at fires. 3. The driving or taking of any heavy motor vehicle or combination of heavy motor vehicles onto or over the sections of State highways described in the Schedule to this bylaw while there is another heavy motor vehicle or combination of heavy motor vehicles on that section of State highway is prohibited. Schedule The following bridges on State Highway No. 6 (BlenheimInvercargill): the Fox Bridge (Route Position 626/8.26); the Cook Bridge (Route Position 639/0.00); the Karangarua Bridge (Route Position 659/0.00); This bylaw was made by resolution passed at a meeting of Transit New Zealand held in Wellington on the 2nd day of April 1997.
