Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Harataunga Under sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education, hereby gives the following notice: N o t i c e 1. This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Harataunga. 2. This notice shall come into force on 25 November 1996. 3. I hereby establish at Kennedy Bay a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Harataunga, and designate the school as a kura kaupapa Maori. 4. Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Harataunga. Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes, and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Harataunga: (i) To provide programmes of learning that will enable all students to realise their full potential. (ii) To aim at the highest possible standards of achievement in literacy, numeracy, science, technology, and all other curriculum areas. (iii) To develop values, knowledge, understanding and skills in order to compete successfully in the modern, ever-changing world. (iv) To encourage a sense of pride and self-determination in each child. (v) To provide all children with equal educational opportunities and to remove any barriers to achievement. (vi) To enhance each child's uniqueness and individuality. (vii) To ensure a holistic approach to education. (viii) To provide a safe learning environment. (ix) To provide opportunities that will enhance children's learning. 5. Constitution of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Harataunga shall comprise: (a) Five people appointed by the Minister. (b) The principal. (c) A staff representative.
