Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Maraenui Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education, hereby gives the following notice: N o t i c e 1. This notice may be cited as the Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Maraenui. 2. The notice shall come into force on the 12th day of August 1996. 3. I hereby establish at Maraenui a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Maraenui, and designate it as a kura kaupapa Maori. 4. Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Maraenui. Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes, and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Maraenui: (i) Ko te reo Maori te reo matua o te kura. The Maori language shall be the prime language of the school. (ii) Kia mau pumau ki nga ahuatanga o Maraenui tonu. To retain the culture and traditions of Maraenui. (iii) He whakapumau i te whanaungatanga o te kura me tona rohe, e rangapu ai te awhi i te hunga whai i te matauranga. To maintain the bonds that unite the school and its community, and to support the school. (iv) Kia matemateaone tetahi ki tetahi, kia ngakau mahaki te tangata, kia ngakau nui i te aroha. To understand and to appreciate the values of love, humility, and support for one another. (v) Kia ita te mauri o te tamaiti i roto i nga ako. To respect the uniqueness and dignity of each child. (vi) He whakahora papa ahuru tikanga e hokai ai te tapuwae tangata ki tona toa rangatiratanga. To formulate policies that will help towards personal self-determination. (vii) Kia matauria ai nga whakaaro mohio i runga i tona pumautanga, kia eke ki nga tihi teitei o te taumata. To encourage each student to achieve to his/her full potential. (viii) Kia marama te kite atu kua pakari nga tamariki i roto i nga ako. To clearly identify the achievement levels of individual students. (ix) Kia tipu nga ahuatanga tuku iho o tona pumanawa, kia u hoki tona turanga tangata whenua. To nurture each student's ability that he/she may grow in confidence and self-esteem. 5. Constitution of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Maraenui shall comprise: (a) Five people appointed by the Minister. (b) The principal.
