The Fisheries (Chatham Islands Rock Lobster Closed Season) Notice (No. F17) Pursuant to section 85 of the Fisheries Act 1983, the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Fisheries, after consultation with the Director-General of Conservation, the New Zealand Fishing Industry Board and the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission, pursuant to sections 85 and 86 of the Fisheries Act 1983, hereby gives the following notice. N o t i c e 1. Title and commencement This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Chatham Islands Rock Lobster Closed Season) Notice and shall come into force on the 1st day of March 1996. 2. Interpretation In this notice, the term: ``Rock lobster'' means those fish of which the scientific names are Jasus edwardsii (commonly known as the spiny or red rock lobster) and Jasus verreauxi (commonly known as the packhorse or green rock lobster). ``Chatham Islands rock lobster fishery'' means the rock lobster fishery defined on the Ministry of Fisheries Map No. 151 (File Reference 20/1/5) held in the Head Office of the said Ministry, and bounded by all that area of New Zealand fisheries waters enclosed by a line commencing at a point 40 25 S and 178 W on the outer limits of the exclusive economic zone; then proceeding along the outer limits of the zone to a position 51 50 S and 174 35 E; then proceeding in a straight line to a position 50 55 S and 173 50 E; then proceeding along the outer limits of the zone to a position 48 15 S and 174 E; then proceeding in a straight line to the point of commencement. 3. Closed season of rock lobster determined There is hereby determined to be a closed season for rock lobster in the Chatham Islands rock lobster fishery commencing on the 1st day of March 1996 and expiring on the 30th day of April 1996, both days inclusive.
