Notice of Decision of Disciplinary Committee At a hearing held on 27 February 1996, the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Society of Accountants heard a charge against Gary Richard Smith of Coromandel. Gary Richard Smith did not appear before the Disciplinary Committee and pleaded guilty to the charge in that he had been adjudged bankrupt on or about 6 March 1995, by order of the High Court at Hamilton. After hearing submissions on behalf of the Investigation Committee and reading correspondence from the member, the Disciplinary Committee found the charge proved. Acting under section 24 (3) (a) of the New Zealand Society of Accountants Act 1958, the Disciplinary Committee ordered that the name of Gary Richard Smith be removed from the Register of Members of the Society and fixed the date of the later of: (a) 10 March 1998; and (b) The date of his discharge from bankruptcy after which Gary Richard Smith may apply for reregistration under this Act. Gary Richard Smith was also ordered to pay to the society the sum of $2,226.21 in respect of the costs and expenses relating to the inquiry by the Disciplinary Committee and the investigation by the Investigation Committee. The Disciplinary Committee ordered that its decision be published in the Chartered Accountant's Journal of New Zealand, the New Zealand Gazette and Waikato Times newspaper with mention of the member's name and locality.
