Approval of Alternative Seatbelt Standard Pursuant to regulation 88 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, Michael Joseph Small, Senior Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby approve for the purposes of regulation 78a of the Traffic Regulations 1976, the seatbelt standard described in Schedule 1 of this notice, subject to the conditions of approval set out in Schedule 2 of this notice. Schedule 1 Approved Alternative Standard: Seatbelts that comply with South African Bureau of Standards, SABS 1080 - 1983, and any subsequent amendments. Schedule 1 Conditions of Approval: 1. Seatbelts that comply with SABS 1080-1983 and are labelled or otherwise marked in accordance with that standard. 2. The seatbelt manufacturer must be approved by SABS to apply the SABS standard marking on every seatbelt which claims compliance with SABS 1080-1983. 3. The SABS standard marking must be either i.
