Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 Power Operated Elevating Work Platforms Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, Robert J. Hill, General Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of my intention, to apply to the Minister of Labour for his approval of a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for health and safety in the design, use and maintenance of elevating work platforms, as an ``Approved Code of Practice'', under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. These preferred work practices or arrangements are designed to describe safety and health precautions that should be taken in the design, use and maintenance of elevating work platforms. The elevating work platforms to which this approved code will apply are work platforms where the height of the platform may be adjusted by powered means using articulation, scissors mechanism, telescoping boom or tower, or any combination of these, and which are either vehicle mounted, self propelled, towed or manually moved.
