Classification of Medicines Pursuant to section 106 (1) of the Medicines Act 1981, the Minister of Health hereby declares the medicines listed in Schedules one, three and four to this notice to have the classifications prescription medicine, pharmacy-only medicine and general sale medicine respectively. First Schedule Prescription Medicines Cefepime Cinchocaine; for parenteral use Edetic acid; in medicines containing more than 0.25% of edetic acid Gabapentin Lansoprazole Lignocaine; for ophthalmological use except when used in practice by a registered optometrist Mepivacaine Nefazodone Oxybuprocaine; for ophthalmological use except when used in practice by a registered optometrist Prilocaine; for parenteral use except when used in practice by a dental therapist Procaine; for parenteral use; for internal use Rocuronium bromide Third Schedule Pharmacy-only Medicines Acrivastine Benzocaine; for external use in medicines containing more than 2% Cinchocaine; for external use in medicines containing more than 2% Hetastarch Ibuprofen; for external use Pentastarch Pramocaine; for external use in medicines containing more than 2% Pregnancy test kits Prilocaine; for external use in medicines containing more than 2% Fourth Schedule General Sale Medicines Benzocaine; for external use in medicines containing 2% or less; in throat lozenges containing 30 milligrams or less per dose form Cinchocaine; for external use in medicines containing 2% or less Contact lens solutions Edetic acid; in medicines containing 0.25% or less Galactose Pramocaine; for external use in medicines containing 2% or less Prilocaine; for external use in medicines containing 2% or less.
