The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 2 Pursuant to section 235 of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice. N o t i c e 1. Title and commencement (1) This notice may be cited as the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 2 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice). (2) This notice shall come into force on the 30th day of May 1994. 2. Title of Code of Practice amended The title of the principal notice is hereby amended by inserting, after the words ``Practice for Ships'', the word ``of''. 3. Interpretation Clause 1 of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by deleting, from the definition of ``New ship'', the words ``A cargo ship, whenever built, which is converted to a passenger ship shall be treated as a passenger ship constructed on the date on which a conversion commences.'' 4. Title of Part I of the Schedule amended The title of Part I of the Schedule is hereby amended by inserting, after the words ``Length or Over'', the words ``and with a Gross Tonnage of 500 or over''.
