The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class VI of 45m in Length and Over) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 1 Pursuant to section 235 of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice. N o t i c e 1. Title and commencement (1) This notice may be cited as the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class VI of 45m in Length and Over) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 1 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class VI of 45m in Length and Over) Notice 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice). (2) This notice shall come into force on the 30th day of May 1994. 2. Automatic sprinkler, fire detection and fire alarm systems Clause (3) (1) of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by deleting lines 1 to 5 inclusive and substituting the following paragraph: ``Every ship of Class VI of 45m in length and over shall, depending on the degree of fire protection used in the construction of the ship as required in the Shipping (Construction) Regulations 1989, be provided in the accommodation and service spaces with either : ''.
