Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 Managing Hazards to Prevent Major Industrial Accidents Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, Robert J. Hill, General Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of my intention, to apply to the Minister of Labour for his approval of a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for health and safety in managing hazards to prevent major industrial accidents, as an ``Approved Code of Practice'', under the Act. These preferred work practices or arrangements are designed to describe management systems that may be used by organisations to prevent major industrial accidents in workplaces with that potential. The management systems described include systems for hazard identification and assessment, hazard management, hazard control and modification, monitoring and auditing as well as emergency planning systems.
