Pursuant to section 71 (1) of the Legal Services Act 2000, the Legal Services Agency developed and adopted Criteria for Approval as a Listed Provider in February 2003.
The Legal Services Agency now gives notice of new interim listing criteria for determining when a person may be approved to provide specified legal aid services within the Supreme Court.
The interim criteria are:
? Providers may only represent matters for which they hold a current listing approval; and
? must hold litigation level 2 or above (i.e. have four years or more litigation experience).
The interim criteria will be effective from 12 March 2004.
Before the listing criteria are finalised, the agency intends to consult with the legal community, as appropriate.
