In accordance with section 74(1)(a) of the Legislation Act 2019, notification is hereby given of the making of Land Transport Rule: Heavy Vehicle Productivity Reform Amendment 2026 (No 1) (“Rule”).

The objective of the Rule is to amend the Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing 2017 and Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2016 to:

1. refine administrative requirements, particularly in relation to permitting requirements;
2. reduce unnecessary compliance costs; and
3. promote risk-based regulation through land transport rules that are fit for purpose.

The Rule comes into force on 6 August 2026.
