The Commerce Commission (“Commission”) gives notice under section 52P of the Commerce Act 1986 that it has amended the Gas Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2022 [2022] NZCC 19 and the Gas Transmission Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2022 [2022] NZCC 20 by issuing new determinations.

The amendments have been published in the Gas Distribution Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2026 [2026] NZCC 19 and Gas Transmission Services Default Price-Quality Path Determination 2026 [2026] NZCC 20, dated 27 May 2026.

These determinations are secondary legislation for the purposes of the Legislation Act 2019.

The determinations specify the following for providers of gas pipeline services:

1. a five-year regulatory period beginning 1 October 2026 and ending 30 September 2031 (“regulatory period”);
2. the maximum prices and revenues that may be recovered in each year of the regulatory period; and
3. the quality standards that must be met in each year of the regulatory period.
