Pursuant to section 72 of the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002, I, Julie Claire Jukes, terminate the state of local emergency declared at 8.55am on 11 April 2026 for Whakatane District owing to the expected effects from Cyclone Vaianu, including the risk of coastal flooding of Ohope.

The termination of the state of local emergency takes effect immediately on the making of this declaration.
