Pursuant to section 92 of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992, I, Audrey Sonerson, Director-General of Health:

1. Revoke the amended notice appointing Dr Marcel Hediger as Director of Area Mental Health Services in respect of “Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti”, dated 8 December 2025 (New Zealand Gazette, 9 December 2025, Notice No. 2025-go7121).

2. Appoint Dr Mirsad Begic as Director of Area Mental Health Services in respect of “Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti”, and amend the Appointment of Directors of Area Mental Health Services (New Zealand Gazette, 20 March 2025, Notice No. 2025-go1576)

1. by omitting the name and title
   “Dr Inez Awatere-Walker, clinical psychologist, of Hawke’s Bay”
2. and substituting the name and title
   “Dr Mirsad Begic, consultant psychiatrist, of Auckland”.

This notice is effective from 12 June 2026.
