Pursuant to sections 200(1)(a), 204 and 205 of the Education and Training Act 2020 (“Act”), I hereby designate Te Kura o Kokohuia (2384), as a Year 1–13, designated character school, Kura-ā-Iwi, that will operate in accordance with section 204 of the Act, with effect from Term 3, 2026.

The designated character of the wharekura will provide:

• Level 1 full Māori immersion using te reo o Whanganui.
• Instruction will be guided by the kura philosophy Te Tūnga Ahurei, based on Te Ātihaunui-ā-Pāpārangi values, knowledge, beliefs, skills and institutions.
• The kura marautanga (local curriculum) strongly promotes learning across several hapū and iwi to implement the education goals and priorities of Ngā Kai o te Puku Tupuna – Iwi Education Strategy.

The constitution of the Te Kura o Kokohuia Board shall not be changed by this notice.
