Pursuant to section 476 of the Education and Training Act 2020, I give notice that several upcoming vacancies are expected in the membership of the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand (“Council”) due to changes proposed in the Education and Training (System Reform) Amendment Bill. The appointments will be for terms lasting up to three years, will include appointment of the Chair and Deputy Chair, and may include reappointments.

When considering whether to appoint an individual as a member of the Council, I will take into account each candidate’s ability to carry out the duties of a member of the Council and represent the public interest. I will also have regard to the collective skills and experience, requirements outlined in the Education and Training Act 2020.
