Pursuant to section 276 of the Education and Training Act 2020 (“Act”), the Minister for Tertiary Education hereby gives the following notice.

Notice

This notice may be cited as the Constitution of Te Mana Whakahaere (Council) of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Te Kuratini o Ngā Waka Notice 2026.

(1) Te Mana Whakahaere of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Te Kuratini o Ngā Waka (“Te Mana Whakahaere”) shall be composed of a total of nine members, consisting of:

  1. three members appointed by the Minister for Tertiary Education; and
  2. six members appointed by Te Mana Whakahaere in accordance with the Direct Appointment of Members to Te Mana Whakahaere Statute 2015, as amended or replaced from time to time.

(2)

  1. Subject to clause 2(b) of this notice, and Schedule 11, clause 6 of the Act, Te Mana Whakahaere members shall be appointed for not less than one year and not more than four years;
  2. In accordance with Schedule 11, clause 3 of the Act, Te Mana Whakahaere members shall be appointed for no more than five terms.

This constitution shall be established when notice is published in the New Zealand Gazette. The constitution will come into effect on 21 May 2026.

This notice will replace the previous constitution established in 2015 (published in the New Zealand Gazette, 11 June 2015, Issue No. 65, Notice No. 2015-au3444).
