Whereas, section 16(1) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 empowers the Minister of Transport to appoint a person to be a protection officer.

And whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport, by an instrument of delegation dated 19 March 1997, did delegate those powers under section 12 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to Maritime New Zealand.

And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 and section 73 of the Crown Entities Act 2004, Maritime New Zealand, by an instrument of delegation dated 8 April 2024, did delegate those powers under section 16(1) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime New Zealand.

Therefore I, Kirstie Hewlett, Director of Maritime New Zealand, hereby appoint the following person as protection officers under section 16(1) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996.

This notice comes into effect on 26 August 2025.
